Fall Family Fun {{{ Alliteration is Appealing 😉 }}} | Rochester, Mi. Family Photographer

Fall really seems to have taken a quick leap into winter around here, but fortunately I was able to squeeze in one more colorful autumn session before the winds of change blew the leaves off the trees, and the weather into sub-freezing temps.  This session was extra special because it was my very first time photographing my Uncle's family as a whole.  I had photographed his daughters, for a special surprise gift that my Aunt Cindy had planned, but have not had the pleasure of catching the whole family together.
My little cousins are such beauties, each with their own personality.  At least two of the three girls thought modeling was exhausting, although the real effort went into trying to find any remnant of autumn leaves left for us to use as our backdrop.  We might've scheduled the session a bit late in the game, but I love the images we caught, even with the dwindling bits of reds and oranges and yellows that were left on the trees.
Uncle Shawn and Aunt Cindy, it doesn't take much to make your family look gorgeous.  Thank you for asking me to capture these images for you.  I had a lot of fun doing it.  :)

As you can see, my uncle is a bit of an up-stager.  Lol.  ;P

Just the Girls | Goodrich, MI. Child Photographer

My favorite sister trio returned to me this year for another photo shoot.  I had a lot of fun with them last year, and this year was no different.  They looked so cute in their coordinating outfits.  I think their mom, Sarah, knew that the vibrant pink is right up my alley.  Little Ella was not really into the session at all until we found a nice flower box to play peek-a-boo with, then she was all smiles.  In the meantime, she made her own fun by running around behind the scenes while I shot her older sisters, Abby and Olivia, which made for one of my favorite shots of the whole session.  :)

There are a few perks to being friends with your photographer, and one of them is getting sneak peaks before your sneak peak is actually posted online.  One downfall to being friends with your photographer is that she can put off posting your preview, to spread out her blogging, without fear that you will hurt her, because you have already seen a few of your pics.  ;P
Sorry for making you wait Sarah, but I know you'll forgive me.  :D

Let's Get Together......Yeah, Yeah, Yeah | Flint, MI. Family Photographer

Social media has become a part of everyday life for many people, including myself.  It is a time drain as you get sucked into reading the musings of your peers, sharing little stories, and let's face it.....watching funny cat videos.  (You know you've done it.  lol).  Well, social media may be a black hole of wasted time more often than not, but it also serves a higher purpose by reconnecting people who have lost touch with one another.  It has done this for me countless times, and though it is nice to catch up in the cyber world, it is even better when your reconnection leads to an actual in-person gathering.

That is exactly what happened to me this past weekend.  I was recently reconnected with a group of old friends, with whom I attended church when I was younger.  Michelle was one of the people in that group.  She and her family used to transport me and a few of my siblings to and from church when we were little.  I was literally just a kid then, and I looked up to Michelle as a sort of older sister type figure.    It has been more than 12 years since I last saw or spoke with Michelle or her family, so it was exciting to find out that she is now married with two kids and living a happy life.  Needless to say, when she asked me to do a photo shoot with her son and daughter, I was thrilled to have the chance to see her again, and to meet her beautiful family.

Her son, Andrew, is just the handsomest little 8 year old!  He is charmingly shy with a smoldering stare that is sure to make the ladies in his future melt like butter.  Hadley is a charismatic 6 year old, who has the cutest toothless smile, and doesn't even have to try to find a cute pose for the camera because she is just naturally photogenic.  I even got to meet their 5 month old horse...uh, I mean puppy.  Maggie is the biggest 5 month old ANYTHING that I have ever met, and she is just so pretty.  She even sat still for a shot or two with the kids.

This shoot was supposed to be just about the kids, but I made sure to let Michelle know that I was more than willing to do a family photo while we were out, but she assured me that she just wanted photos of the kids.  As we were nearing the end of our shoot I made one last ditch effort to convince mom and dad to join in the fun because I think it is important to snag at least one image that includes the whole family, since in normal day to day life, there always seems to be someone missing in home photos.  We are never guaranteed another day to find the perfect coordinating outfit, have a fantastic hair day, wait for that untimely pimple to fade, lose a few pounds, sleep away the dark circles under our eyes, etc.  These are only some of the many reasons that some of my clients have given me for not wanting to be included in the photos I take for them, but I assure you that as time passes and memories fade, a photo of you with your babies will mean MUCH more to you than the memories of unwarranted insecurities.

I hope that you love all of your images Michelle, especially the family photo.  You have a beautiful family, and I am so glad that you chose me to share this time with you all.

The Little Prince | Oxford, MI. Newborn Photographer

It's always nice to know that my past clients have good things to say about their experience with me and their photo session and images, so it was great to get a call from the mama of this little guy.  She had been referred by a family that I shot last fall, and I couldn't wait to have the opportunity to photograph her beautiful family as well, as they welcomed their newest addition, Baby Drew Alexander.
When I arrived to do their photo shoot, their adorable daughter, Audrey, was the first person I met.  She is a riot.  She is so smart and outgoing, and has so much energy that it is hard not to want to just jump and twirl and run right with her.
Soon, I was introduced to her new baby brother, and he is just the handsomest baby ever.  Mom had requested a crown for his photos, and I am so glad she did.  It is perfectly befitting of this little guy because he is such a perfect little prince.
It is a big deal to keep the flow of pleased clients running smoothly, and there is always extra pressure when you are shooting for someone that has been referred by a past client.  I would never want to make anyone regret sending their friend to me, so there is added pressure to really deliver great photos, and I hope that I have done just that.  Shannara and Neal, I hope you love your preview.  There is so much more to come.  :)

Their Happily Ever After... | Holly, Mi. Family Photographer

It has been a busy summer so far, and it's not over yet.  I cannot wait to share more of what I've been up to.  For now, I am highlighting my session with a wonderful family.  We had a gorgeous evening for out photo shoot, minus the mosquitos.  It was the perfect temperature, and it was nice and dry.  What more can you ask for in Michigan?  lol.  This family has three beautiful kids that were so much fun to photograph, and we even got grandma and grandpa in the mix for a few shots.  Mom contacted me with a list of photo ideas that she wanted to try, one of which involved the phrase "Our Happily Ever After..."  We incorporated that into some of the images, and it turned out beautiful.  I am so happy to have taken part in helping them commemorate this point in their lives, as they continue to build upon their happily ever after.  :)

Addi Turns One!!! | Astonished Auntie Photographer, Flint, Mi.

I cannot believe that a whole year has flown by already, but here it is.  Exactly one year ago today, I became an auntie again, to another beautiful baby girl.  Addison Riley was born at 6:43am, and instantly put smiles on the faces of those who were there to see her.  That trend has continued on through the year as she has grown, because you just cannot look at this girl without smiling.  Not only is she adorable, but she is also smart, and silly, and such a ham.  I love being an auntie to three beautiful nieces, and I cannot wait to celebrate Addi's first year with her.
Happy First Birthday Addi Ooo!!!  I love you!

See Addi as she has grown, from birth to one year, through the photos I have shared here.

ONE YEAR!!!!!

WE DID IT!!!!! | Goodrich, MI. | Child and Family Photographer

That's right, we managed to make up our rain-delayed session from the week prior to this.  I'll tell you though, it wasn't looking good. We woke up to the same weather that put the kibosh on our original session date.  It was dreary and rainy and chilly, but luckily I have patient and enthusiastic clients, who were willing to wait it out and nab our best opportunity of the day.  There was only one stipulation.  We HAD to be done in time for the Michigan vs. Michigan State game.  Lol.

We met at the most beautiful location!  The trees stood vibrant with the gorgeous oranges, reds and golden yellows of fall.  It was definitely the perfect setting for an autumn family session.  We beat the rain, and even got a peek of sunshine here and there. We did have a short battle with the breeze, but aside from that, the weather was nice to us for the entirety of our session.

This session was strategically planned to coincide with the upcoming birthday of their youngest daughter, who is turning one. Unfortunately, little miss Ella was not fond of the nip in the air, so we didn't get any outside pics of her by herself, but she rocked it out for the family shots!  (My legs nearly gave out on me from doing so many power jumps to coax out those precious smiles, but it was sooo worth it for the end result).  I don't think that there could possibly be a cuter family.  And, though we were unable to get a happy Ella outside, we got some great shots of her lovely sisters, and then we captured some ADORABLE images of her inside.
All three of these girls are total gems, and I LOVED spending the day with them, and each of their very different personalities.  This session was a long time coming, and has totally lived up to my expectations.  They couldn't be more perfect.  And, in the end, I'm happy to report that dad made it home in time for the big game, and Michigan came out with a win!  Woot woot!!!!  It was a great day for everyone...........unless you're a State fan.
;P

Thank you Sarah and Rob, for being so flexible, and working with what mother nature handed us that day.  And, more importantly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLA!!!!!  :)
